Lauren Brown
Ms. Brown holds a BSc in Forest Conservation from the University of Toronto. Having grown up in downtown Toronto, she developed a particular interest in urban forestry and the importance of trees and green spaces in our city landscapes. Upon graduation Ms. Brown worked in education and awareness of the urban forest, teaching and facilitating workshops across the city to all ages, in both schools and local organizations. She was active in community engagement and planned various events, from fundraising to volunteer appreciation.
In addition to her studies, Ms. Brown brings a wealth of experience both as an accomplished rower and coach. She rowed for the University of Toronto and has been coaching both rowing and fitness for the past 14 years, from beginners to competitive athletes. Prior to moving to Kingston she developed a successful high school rowing program at her local rowing club. Ms. Brown found her young athletes truly inspiring, seeing their hard work, dedication and teamwork build life-long friendships and memories. She is passionate in sharing her love of rowing and believes in the power of building community, confidence, and health for life through sport and movement.
Outside of the classroom, you’ll catch Ms. Brown enjoying time outdoors and camping in the summer with her two children, rowing on the Cataraqui, or curled up with a knitting project when she can find some quiet time!
This is Ms. Brown's 6th year at Leahurst College.
